Kenya is set to change their currency notes to new ones …. As per the demand of the constitution that was passed on August 2010.
The constitution states that the country was / is supposed to change her Currency from the ones that were already in the market to new ones which is supposed to show Kenya as a country and the things that the country is proud of … i.e. what Kenya is known for …
If you go outside the country you would find that Kenya as a country is known for so many things to which some are god but some not that good… I will provide a few examples of the good and most proudly Assets I Kenya, which are:
1. for tourist destination,
2. For Agriculture ,
3. For Sports.
4. Etc.
The new currency notes are supposed to show how Kenyans are proud of their country and their countries works and possessions.
The process to change the old currency was to be carried out via a public participation which was conducted well with the Central bank of Kenya (CBK) being in charge of the whole operation.
The designs and the art from Kenyans was collected and was processed well and here came out the new notes which were so much attractive and beautiful showing the Kenyan’s proudly features and also had several and improved security features which were shortened to a short statement;
“Guza, Tazama, Geuza “ which is translated as “Touch, See, Roll-over”
Guza - This entails on touch where when you touch the new notes you will feel the roughness of the word Kenya and the note value.
Tazama – This entails on seeing… that is when you look at the new notes against the light you will see the lion image which is clearer than the previous notes and you will also see the word CBK and the value of the note.
Geuza – This entails on rolling the note over to which you will see the security code which is written CBK the note value and a photo of a dove … the security thread changes color where the higher note that is one thousand note and five hundred note will change its color to rainbow colors.
The new Kenyan currency has already started to circulate around the country and many Kenyans have understood the security features due to the frequent experience with the currency, the available currency notes include fifty shilling note (50 KSh ), a hundred shilling note (100 KSh ), two hundred note (200 KSh) , five hundred note (500 KSh ) , one Thousand shilling note ( 1000 KSh)… and the ones that the Kenyan government is planning to kick start with will be the one thousand shilling note to which the old one thousand note validity is expected to end on 30th September 2019 and the new currency note will be legal as from that date and thus all Kenyans are supposed to have changed their old one thousand notes before then, via any bank near them…
And one is not a Must to have an account in that bank you can just visit any bank with your old one thousand note and request to change and you will just be needed to provide the old one thousand note and be given a new note there and there, And you will walk out of the bank with the new one thousand note.
How interesting and fast the experience it is…!
